A teenager named Maruf Sardar (14) was beaten to death due to a dispute over land in Dasar of Madaripur. He died on Sunday morning while undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Dhaka. Earlier on Saturday morning, four people including Maruf Sardar were beaten and injured in Khatial area of ​​Baligram Union of Dasar Upazila.

In this incident, Maruf Sardar’s father Noor Islam Sardar, mother Maninur Begum along with Hosneyara Begum and Papia Begum of the same house were beaten and seriously injured. They have taken treatment at 250 bedded district hospital in Madaripur. All of them are residents of Khatial area of ​​Baligram union of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, for a long time there was a dispute between Nur Islam Sardar of Khatial area and Mofazzel Sardar of the same area. On Saturday morning, both sides held a match on a disputed land near Noor Islam’s house. At this time, arguments and arguments arose between the two parties. At one point, under the leadership of Mofazzel Sardar, his men attacked the opponent Noor Islam with indigenous weapons. Five people including Noor Islam’s son and wife were beaten and seriously injured when they tried to stop him.

Later, five people including Noor Islam, his son Maruf Sardar were admitted to Madaripur 250 bedded district hospital in critical condition. At that time, Maruf Sardar was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. His relatives admitted Maruf to Dhaka Medical College around 4 pm on Saturday. Later, when the condition worsened, the hospital authorities advised him to be put on life support. Maruf was later taken to a private hospital in the capital. Maruf died there on Sunday around eight o’clock in the morning while undergoing treatment.

Maruf’s father, Noor Islam, said, “Mofazzel Sardar and his people are beating my polar, killing Myra. What will they do with the land if I don’t have a chicken? I want justice for those who beat my polar, I want them to be hanged.

When the news of Maruf’s death spread, the main accused Mofazzel Sardar covered up. Several calls were made to his mobile but he did not pick up.

In this regard, the officer in charge of Dasar police station, Tarikul Islam, told Prothom Alo that the conflict between the two sides is due to a family dispute over land. Maruf Sardar, a teenager, is believed to have died due to severe head injuries. In this incident, the mother of the teenager, Mahinur Begum, filed a case in the police station as the plaintiff. In this, 12 people have been accused and 4 to 5 unknown people have been accused. The accused are absconding since the incident. Police operations are continuing to nab the accused.
