If the OC doesn’t listen, prepare to tie the knot and leave

The President of Chakaria Upazila BNP of Cox’s Bazar has been accused of threatening the officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station and various levels of the administration.
He said these things in a speech at a function organized at ‘Chairman Lake’ of Aziznagar Union of Lama Upazila near Chakriya last Sunday night. Leaders and workers of Chakaria Upazila, Municipality and Matamuhuri Upazila BNP were present in the event. An 11 minute 5 second video of his speech went viral on Tuesday.
Enamul Haque said in the regional language, ‘Chakaria police station will not give everything. We have to collect from the police station. Our leader is the Home Minister. We did not make coal or water resources minister, we made home minister.
Enamul Haque also said, “If the OC doesn’t listen to us, then he will have to prepare to tie himself up and leave.” Similarly, if any official of the UNO office does not listen to us, then they should also be ready to leave.
Enamul Haque said to the bigger officials, “Give them an ultimatum.” If you don’t work within 15 days, a cot will be brought from the mosque and you will be made to sleep. Then it will be sent to either Amirabad or Cox’s Bazar. They will not be allowed to stay here anymore.
General secretary of Chakaria upazila BNP M Mubarak Ali, former general secretary Fakhruddin Farayezi, municipal BNP vice president Ghiyas Uddin, former councilor Nurul Amin and various union BNP presidents and general secretaries of the upazila were present.
When asked about the complaint, Enamul Haque said that his speech given at the picnic is being distorted. He told Prothom Alo, “I have said something in the interest of the people. Those who do not look after the interests of the people should not be here – that’s what I said. We are in government. Our leader is the Home Minister. In case they don’t do our legitimate work, I said something in the local language. There were no journalists there. Journalists would have understood in what manner and for what purpose I said the words. There is no opportunity to take my statement negatively.
When asked, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chakaria Police Station Mohammad Monir Hossain told Prothom Alo, “I have not heard his video speech.” I don’t know in what context he made such a statement about OC. But my relationship with him as OC is very good. So far he has not done any immoral lobbying. If you want the help of the police in any legitimate matter, we have given it.
