Husband-wife-child killed in Barisal hit by bus, bus vandalized protest

Three members of the same family on a motorcycle were killed when a passenger bus hit them in Barisal. The accident took place on the Dhaka-Barisal highway in Batajor area of ​​Gournadi upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

After the incident, local people seized the bus and vandalized it. However, the driver and his assistant managed to escape. At that time, due to the protest of angry people, the traffic movement was stopped on Dhaka-Barisal highway for about one and a half hours and severe traffic jam was created. Later, around two o’clock, traffic returned to normal.

The three deceased are Feroz Mahmud (37), son of Abdul Hakim, a resident of Uzirpur Upazila Sadar in the district, his wife Monira Begum and their baby daughter Jannat. They died on the spot when they were hit by the bus from behind the motorcycle while stuck in the traffic jam.

Gournadi Fire Service Station Officer Md. Mizanur Rahman said that Firoz Mahmud was going to Wazirpur with his wife and children. The motorcycle was stuck at the bus stand area of ​​Batajo due to traffic on the road. At that time, a passenger bus called ‘Taj Paribahan’ hit the motorcycle from behind while going towards Barisal. Three members of the same family were killed on the spot.
