A government-appointed inquiry committee has officially submitted its report to Health and Family Welfare Minister Sakhawat Hossain regarding the deaths of six newborns at Ad-Deen Hospital in Dhaka. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare confirmed the development in a press release issued on Wednesday, marking a significant step in the ongoing investigation into the tragedy.

The infants died on the morning of May 27 while receiving treatment in the post-delivery ward of the hospital. In the immediate aftermath, three separate investigations were launched to determine the cause of the deaths and identify any potential negligence.

The health ministry established a three-member high-level panel to conduct its inquiry, while the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) formed a parallel three-member committee. The DGHS-led team is expected to submit its findings on Thursday.

In addition to the official government inquiries, hospital authorities conducted their own internal investigation to review potential procedural failures or professional lapses. That report has already been forwarded to the ministry. Minister Hossain is scheduled to brief the media at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday to discuss the findings and the government’s next course of action.
