Gulshan Societys New Executive Committee Takes Oath

The newly elected executive committee of the Gulshan Society, a prominent residents’ association in Dhaka’s upscale Gulshan area, officially took their oath of office on Saturday evening at a hotel in Banani, the organization announced in a press release. The ceremony marked the beginning of their two-year term, with a focus on transforming Gulshan into a modern, livable area.

During the event, outgoing committee members highlighted their activities and achievements from their tenure, subsequently receiving commemorative plaques in recognition of their service.

Omar Sadat, who was elected president of the Gulshan Society for a second consecutive term, introduced the new committee members before they formally took their oath.

Following the oath-taking, Mr. Sadat outlined the committee’s two-year action plan, revealing that a special task force is actively working to transform Gulshan into a modern, internationally-standard livable area. This task force, he added, includes representatives from the Banani, Baridhara, and Niketan societies, alongside Gulshan.

He further stated that the new committee’s primary objective is to enhance Gulshan’s aesthetic appeal and habitability by addressing issues of encroachment and waste management, with the support of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Among the other dignitaries who addressed the gathering were Local Government Secretary Md. Shahidul Hasan, Dhaka North City Corporation Administrator Shafiqul Islam Khan, and Gulshan Society General Secretary Mujibur Rahman Mridha.

The event also featured a cultural segment, with musical performances by renowned artists Sabina Yasmin and Sabbir Zaman.
