Garage owner killed in road accident on Dhaka-Chattogram highway

A 50-year-old garage owner was killed late Wednesday night after being struck by a covered van while crossing the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Mirsharai, Chittagong. The victim, identified as Mohammad Ali, a resident of South Mehedi Nagar village, was returning home from work when the incident occurred at approximately 10:00 p.m. near the Green Tower area of Bariarhat municipal market.
According to local accounts and police reports, Ali was navigating the Chittagong-bound lane of the highway when he was struck by the speeding vehicle. Bystanders immediately rushed the victim to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at roughly 2:00 a.m. on Thursday.
Kamran Mehedi, a neighbor of the deceased, confirmed that Ali operated a vehicle repair shop in the Bariarhat market area and was traveling home at the time of the fatal collision.
Officer-in-Charge of the Zorarganj Highway Police Station, Mohammad Sharifuzzaman, stated that authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to identify the covered van and its driver. Police have launched an investigation into the accident and are preparing to file a formal case.
