Formation of investigation committee in case of attempted rape of student of Jahangirnagar University

The university administration has formed a seven-member investigation committee into the attempted rape and murder of a student in Jahangirnagar University. The committee has been asked to submit its report within the next seven days.
This information was informed in a circular signed by acting director Mohammad Mohiuddin from the public relations office of the university yesterday at 11:30 pm.
According to the notification, this committee has been formed to give a report along with recommendations to determine the responsibility of the concerned departments and individuals in the incident of attempted rape and suicide of an outsider on a female student on the night of May 12. This decision was taken in an emergency administrative meeting held under the chairmanship of the university’s vice-chancellor Prof. Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan.
According to the university administration, the professor of the department of pharmacy in the committee. Sohail Rana has been made the president. Other members of the committee are Professor Nahid Akhtar of Botany Department, Professor of Philosophy Department. Zakir Hossain, Professor of Government and Politics Department, Nasreen Sultana, Professor of Zoology Department. Kamruzzaman, professor of philosophy. Zaheer Raihan and Lutfar Rahman Arif, deputy registrar of higher education and scholarship wing, will serve as member secretary.
