Father is in jail for murdering mother, Chhota Khushbu’s body is in morgue

Husband is in jail for murdering his wife. The couple’s 45-day-old daughter has yet to be named. No relatives were found to take care of him. According to the order of the court, the orphaned child was placed in the government Chotmani residence in Azimpur of the capital. The name is Khushboo. That Khushboo died of measles and post-measles complications at the age of 9 months at the Bangladesh Children’s Hospital and Institute on the night of May 31.
Maria, another daughter of murdered mother Taj Nahar, is seven years old. He was sent to a government children’s home in Tezgaon on court orders.

Khushbu’s body was kept at Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue. Again a written application was made to the court by Chotmani Nibas for the court order. According to the oral order of the court, the body was kept in custody and a general diary was made at the police station. He will be buried tomorrow Tuesday at Rayerbazar Shaheed Intellectuals Memorial – Cemetery. With the help of Anjuman Mufidul Islam, the court also ordered to mark the grave after the body was buried. Social Services Department’s Chotmani Niwas caters for newborns to seven-year-olds, abandoned or trafficked children, or children sent by court orders, from unknown parents. There are a total of six Chotmani Niwas, one each in Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Sylhet, Khulna and Barisal. Each has 100 seats.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court, Dhaka, in an order on July 31 last year, said that the investigating officer of the case has applied to hand over the two daughters of the deceased Taj Nahar to the custody of the probation officer. To ensure the overall welfare and safety of Taj Nahar’s two daughters, the court ordered that after sending Chotmani Nibas in Khushbu and Maria to Shishu Family, the probation officer will supervise the matter.
Khushbu was admitted to Shishu Hospital on May 10. He died on the night of May 31 while undergoing treatment in a special ICU for measles. The death certificate states that Khushbu died of measles and post-measles complications. In this certificate, the name of Chotmani residence is written in place of father’s name.
Jubilee Begum, deputy supervisor of the residence, told Prothom Alo that they received Khushboo at the age of 45 days on the order of the court. The police then informed that this is a case of Keraniganj police station, the husband killed his wife. Apart from this, no documents of the case were sent to Nibas. When Khushbu developed fever and cough and other complications, he was first admitted to DNCC Hospital in Mohakhali. Later from there he was sent to the children’s hospital.
Jubilee Begum said, after Khushbu died, the matter was informed in writing in the court. It was also asked whether the father would come out of prison and see his daughter. Taking into consideration the application, the court has asked the body to be preserved, deposited in the police station and the grave marked.
He said that a total of three children of Chotmani Nibas, including Khushboo, have died of measles and post-measles complications so far. Arisha, who died earlier, was a little over a year old. Mehdi was 5 months old. Three more children are still in two hospitals. Two of them are undergoing treatment in ICU. Apart from this, some others have recovered after getting measles and smallpox treatment in the hospital and returned home.
