Elderly man dies after being found injured and bound near Narsingdi roadside

A 60-year-old unidentified man died in Narsingdi on Wednesday morning after being discovered in critical condition, blindfolded and bleeding, inside a roadside bush. Local residents intervened after spotting a microbus driver attempting to abandon the victim along the Pachdona-Ghorashal regional highway in the Palash upazila.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:30 a.m. near the Bhagdi area of Ghorashal municipality. Witnesses became suspicious when they observed the microbus idling by the roadside and approached the vehicle, discovering the victim in a state of distress. Following the confrontation, the gathered crowd detained the driver, identified as 45-year-old Monir Hossain, and administered a beating before alerting local law enforcement.

Emergency services transported the victim to the Palash Upazila Health Complex, where he arrived in a critical state with visible signs of physical trauma. Despite medical efforts to stabilize him and a recommendation for transfer to a specialized facility in Dhaka, the man succumbed to his injuries at approximately 8:00 a.m.
Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun, the hospital’s resident medical officer, confirmed that the victim arrived with severe injuries consistent with physical assault. Police arrived at the scene shortly after the incident, taking the suspect into custody and seizing the microbus involved.

Sub-Inspector Md. Kamrul Islam of Palash Police Station stated that authorities have launched an investigation to identify the deceased and establish a motive for the attack. The suspect, a resident of Barishal’s Banaripara upazila, remains in custody as police continue to interrogate him to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
