The short messages (SMS) that have been spread on social media regarding the collection of fines in the name of traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) are completely fabricated and untrue. In a press release on Monday, the traffic department of DMP requested the city residents not to be misled or deceived by such information.

According to the notification of DMP, if a case is filed against vehicles violating the ‘Road Transport Act, 2018’, a letter signed by the officer in charge of the concerned department or traffic technical unit is sent to the address of the vehicle owner.
