Dhaka police arrest Satkhira Awami League secretary Nazrul Islam

The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested Md. Nazrul Islam, the former general secretary of the Satkhira district unit of the Awami League, the political organization currently facing suspended operations.
Additional Commissioner of the DMP’s Detective Branch, Shafiul Islam, confirmed the arrest on Monday. According to police sources, investigators apprehended Islam at approximately 12:00 p.m. at his residence in the capital’s Bashundhara residential area.

Authorities stated that Islam is implicated in multiple criminal cases, which served as the primary basis for his detention. Officials confirmed that legal proceedings are currently underway regarding his arrest, and further measures will be determined in accordance with the law.
