Clash in Mymensingh Medical College dormitory due to personal dispute between two friends, class-examination postponed

A clash between two sides of students took place in the hostel of Mymensingh Medical College due to a personal dispute between two friends. This incident took place at around 9 pm on Friday night. One of the two injured in the clash has been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
After this incident, the academic council held an emergency meeting on Saturday and decided to suspend all classes and examinations for the next seven days. Apart from forming a three-member investigation committee in this incident, the students have been ordered to leave the hostel and hostel by eight o’clock this morning.
Students injured in the conflict are Md. Muaz and Mir Hamidur. They are third year students of Mymensingh Medical College. Muaz College Chhatra Dal convenor Tanveer Abdullah is a party activist and Hamidur College Chhatra Dal senior joint convenor Noore Jawad is a Rutap party activist. Among them, Hamidur is undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital and Muaz is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
According to police, hospital and medical college sources, the hostel of Mymensingh Medical College is in Baghmara area of the city. Last night, Muaz went to his friend Hamidur’s room and took a motorcycle full of oil and started talking. At one point, there was a fight between them. At that time, Hamidur and his associates beat Muaz out of the room. Later, when Hamidur went out for tea, he was hit on the head with a steel pipe. When the members of Hamidur’s side chased Muaz, he entered a room and took shelter. After that, when the members of his side came forward to rescue Muaz, there was a back and forth chase between the two sides. On receiving the information, the police went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Muaz and Hamidur who were injured in the clash were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Muaz was later sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Police arrested a student named Nafiul Islam (BDS-14 batch) from the scene of the clash last night. Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Shibirul Islam said that necessary legal action is being taken against the detained student. So far no case has been filed in the police station. He said that the incident took place due to a personal dispute between two friends. Adequate police force has been deployed in medical college and hostel area.
Principal of Mymensingh Medical College. Nazmul Alam Khan told Prothom Alo that they came to know that the incident started around a personal dispute like filling oil in a motorcycle. As per the decision of the academic council in this incident, the class-examination has been suspended for seven days. Students have left the hostel. He said that an investigation committee has been formed with three professors in this incident. The inquiry report has been asked to be submitted within seven days. Necessary action will be taken after receiving the report.
