Body of schoolboy recovered from Shitalakshya river two days after he went missing in Kapasia

Two days after the disappearance of Kapasia in Gazipur from Shitalakshya river. Police recovered the body of a school student named Nurul Islam Nahid alias Rahim (13). His body was recovered from Balda Ghat area of Upazila Sadar on Monday afternoon.
The deceased Nahid is the son of Abdus Chalam of Bara Kakia village of Kapasia upazila. He was a seventh standard student of Simhasree Alauddin Khan High School.
According to family sources, Nahid left home around 9 am last Saturday. As he did not return till afternoon, family members searched all possible places including relatives. Nahid’s father Abdus Salam filed a General Diary (GD) at the Kapasia police station on Monday morning without finding any trace.
Meanwhile, local sailors saw a dead body floating on the banks of Shitalakshya river in Baldar Ghat area of Kapasia Sadar Union today around 12:30 noon. On receiving the information, the police of Kapasia police station rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Later, when the family of missing Nahid was informed, they came and identified the body.
Officer-in-charge of Kapasia police station. Shaheenur Alam said, initially, it is believed that Nahid went down to bathe or swim in the river. Following the request of the family members and on the advice of the higher authorities, the body has been handed over to the relatives.
