A student was injured when a brick fell from a building under construction in Chandpur

A Madrasa student named Liza Akhter (13) was seriously injured when a brick fell from a building under construction in Matlab Dakshin Upazila of Chandpur. The incident took place in Chammukundi area of the upazila at around 4 pm on Wednesday.
Injured Liza is the daughter of Mozammel Bakaul, a resident of Purba Kaladi area of Akter Upazila and a businessman. He is an eighth grade student of Matlab Darul Uloom Islamia Fazil Madrasa of Charmukundi area.
According to eyewitnesses, relatives and local sources, Liza Akhtar was returning home from the madrasa by walking on one side of the road with some of her classmates after the class at 4 pm. Upon reaching the women’s college area of the upazila, the resident said. Several bricks fell on his head from the three-storey building under construction of Nuruzzaman. He suffered bloody injuries and fell down on the road and lost consciousness. Later his classmates and local people rescued him and admitted him to Upazila Health Complex.
Resident Medical Officer (RMO) of Upazila Health Complex Rajeev Kishore Banik said that three stitches were given to the forehead and head of the injured student. He was given first aid. Her family has been advised to undergo a CT scan. He can’t be called out of danger until CTscan is done. He is under doctor’s observation at the hospital.
Matlab South Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hafizur Rahman Manik said, I have come to know about the matter. No written complaint or case has yet been lodged with the police station in this regard. Legal action will be taken after investigation.
