A crocodile was caught in a fishing net in the Padma river at Charbhadrasan in Faridpur. The incident took place in the Padma river in the Gopalpur Char area of ​​the upazila around seven o’clock today on Monday.

According to local sources, the crocodile got stuck in the hazari barashi of fisherman Swapan Bepari (48). With the help of five people including his two sons, the crocodile was rescued and brought to the river bank. All their homes are in Char Salepur area of ​​the upazila. Later, around eight in the morning, the crocodile was brought to Kazibari Ghat of Charbhadrasan Sadar Union.

Swapan Bepari said that every day he casts Hazari Barashi to catch big fish in Padma river. Yesterday Sunday night too, he was getting barashi in Gopalpur Char area. This morning he went and found a crocodile caught in a string and thread. The length of the crocodile will be approximately seven feet and the weight will be about one and a half maunds.

Swapan dealer also said, ‘I know that killing crocodiles is a crime. For this, I took it from the river with the help of my two sons and others and brought it to Kazibari Ghat for handing over to the concerned officials.

Confirming the fact of the incident, Charbhadrasan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Anwar Hossain said that the crocodile was tied up in the water in the Ghat area of ​​Kazibari. The crocodile will be handed over to the rescue team from Khulna. A police guard has been placed in the area so that no one can harm the crocodile.
