A couple died in a midnight fire in Dinajpur

A couple has died due to fire in Suihari Ashrampara area of Dinajpur Municipality. The incident took place at around 12:30 pm on Sunday. Police and fire service believe that the fire started from gas cylinder leakage.
The couple is Tapan Sarkar (45) and his wife Lata Sarkar (37). Tapan Sarkar is a small businessman by profession. The couple has two children.
The son of the dead couple said, “I live in a room on the ground floor of the house. Two small rooms upstairs. One has parents. At around 12 o’clock in the night, I went to the pump at Mordan intersection to get oil. After a while, a neighbor called us on a mobile phone about a fire in our house. When I came home, I saw that it was burning. I went up the stairs a little; But I couldn’t go anymore. Both parents are dead.’
Obaidul Islam, senior station officer of Dinajpur Fire Service, said, “After receiving the news, they reached the spot and managed to bring the fire under control. Initially, it is believed that the fire started from the leakage of the gas cylinder.
Dinajpur Kotwali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Noornabi said that the husband and wife died due to fire. According to the family members, it is believed that the accident occurred due to leakage of gas cylinder. Legal action is under process in this incident.
