Professor Rashidun Nabi, Artist Fatema Tuz Zohra to Receive Nazrul Award

Professor Rashidun Nabi, a distinguished scholar, and acclaimed artist Fatema Tuz Zohra are set to receive the “Nazrul Award 2026” from Bangla Academy. The awards will be presented on Saturday, May 23, at 3 p.m. during a ceremony held to commemorate the 127th birth anniversary of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Professor Nabi is being honored for his exceptional contributions to Nazrul research, while Fatema Tuz Zohra is recognized for her unique dedication to the practice and promotion of Nazrul Sangeet.
Professor Dr. Rashidun Nabi is a prominent educator, Nazrul researcher, musicologist, and notation expert. He notably served as the editor of “Nazrul Sangeet Sangraha,” the most extensive compilation of Nazrul Sangeet. Additionally, he is recognized as a freedom fighter.
Fatema Tuz Zohra, a renowned singer, has captivated audiences for decades with her renditions of Nazrul Geeti and modern songs. Beyond her musical performances, she is also highly regarded as a presenter on television and stage. Her contributions extend beyond music into literature. In recognition of her extraordinary musical talent, she was awarded the prestigious “Ekushey Padak” by the government in 2006.
