Legendary Bangladeshi playback singer and modern music icon Mohammad Khursheed Alam celebrated his 81st birthday on Thursday (August 1), marking a significant milestone in a career that has shaped the landscape of the nation’s music industry. The celebrated artist confirmed his entry into his 81st year during a recent appearance on a program sponsored by Crown Cement, where he reflected on his lifelong journey and personal history.
Born on August 1, 1946, the singer hails from Harunja village in Joypurhat. Khursheed Alam offered a glimpse into his family background, identifying his father as A.F. Taslim Uddin Ahmed. He noted that his father was a dedicated educator who served as a Bengali teacher at the historic Nawabpur Government High School in Dhaka.
The musical icon’s lineage is rooted in a tradition of public service and education, as he shared details about his grandfather, Jasimuddin Ahmed. His grandfather held the prestigious position of Inspector of Schools, reflecting a family legacy that prioritized academic and institutional contribution long before the singer’s rise to prominence in the national cultural sphere.
As he marks this milestone, fans and colleagues continue to honor the veteran artist for his enduring contributions to Bangladeshi cinema and modern music. His reflections provided a rare and intimate look at the formative years of a man whose voice has become an integral part of the country's cultural heritage.
