Man hacked to death over prior enmity in Narail

A 38-year-old man was hacked to death by rivals who called him out of his residence in Narail's Kalia upazila late Monday night (October 14).

The victim, identified as Arafat Molla, was the son of Mokidul Molla from Debdun village under Naragati Police Station. According to police and family accounts, the fatal assault unfolded at approximately 11:30 PM near the victim's homestead following a protracted dispute.

Relating the sequence of events, the victim's stepmother, Jhumur, stated that family members rushed outside upon hearing frantic screams and witnessed Kabir Molla and his associates brutally hacking Arafat. When the victim's father attempted to intervene, he was also assaulted, while another blow was directed at Arafat's biological mother before the attackers retreated. Locals subsequently rescued the gravely injured man and transported him to Kalia Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead upon arrival.

Naragati Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Hossain Ali stated that preliminary investigations suggest the murder stemmed from an ongoing feud between Arafat and a local individual named Kabir Hossain over the division of looted goods and narcotics trade control. Police also noted that multiple criminal cases were previously filed against the deceased. Law enforcement authorities have initiated efforts to apprehend those involved in the targeted attack as investigations continue.
