Kannada actress Divya Suresh reports harassment incident in Bengaluru

Kannada actress Divya Suresh has sparked a broader debate regarding public safety for women after detailing a harrowing stalking incident in Bengaluru. The 33-year-old former “Bigg Boss Kannada” contestant revealed that she was targeted by an unidentified man while walking to her vehicle with her cousin late Sunday night.
According to Suresh, the incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. as the pair navigated toward their car. She reported that an unknown individual began following them, repeatedly making lewd gestures. Despite the actress and her companion attempting to distance themselves, the individual reportedly continued to pursue them even after they managed to enter their vehicle.
Suresh shared a video clip of the confrontation on her Instagram account, which captures her filming the interaction while her cousin confronts the man over his behavior. The footage served as a stark illustration of the vulnerability many women face when navigating the city after dark, prompting an immediate outcry from her followers regarding the perceived lack of safety in urban spaces.
A prominent figure in the Kannada entertainment industry, Suresh first gained prominence after being crowned Miss India South in 2017. She made her silver screen debut that same year in the film “#9, Hilton Cross” and subsequently appeared in regional projects such as “Rowdy Baby” and “Hiranmayi.” Her profile rose significantly in 2021 when she joined the cast of the popular reality television program “Bigg Boss Kannada” during its eighth season.
