BTS member V reveals partial hearing loss in right ear while undergoing medical treatment

Kim Tae-hyung, the South Korean singer-songwriter widely known as V from the globally acclaimed boy band BTS, has revealed that he is suffering from significant hearing loss in his right ear. The artist confirmed he is currently undergoing medical treatment for the condition.
During a recent livestream, V disclosed that he has been grappling with the issue for more than two years. He stated that his hearing capacity in his right ear has declined to approximately 30 percent compared to his left ear. The singer noted that the condition became notably more severe during his mandatory military service, which he completed in June 2025.
V admitted that he initially underestimated the severity of the hearing loss, mistakenly believing it was a matter of mental fortitude. However, he is now under medical supervision and adhering to a prescribed regimen of medication as advised by his physicians.
The disclosure comes as BTS embarks on their first world tour in over four years, following the reunion of the group’s members. All seven members of the band have now fulfilled their mandatory 18-month military service obligations.
Despite the health setback, V confirmed that he intends to continue participating in the ongoing Arirang World Tour while simultaneously focusing on his recovery.
