Investigation report confirms irregularities by fertilizer dealer in Kurigram following farmer warehouse breach

An administrative investigation committee in Bhurungamari, Kurigram, has submitted its findings following an incident in which local farmers forcibly removed 225 sacks of fertilizer from a warehouse in Shilkhuri Union. The report accuses the dealership, Messrs. Shah Amanat Enterprise, of failing to distribute fertilizer to farmers in a timely manner and identifies significant discrepancies in the firm’s cash memos.

The investigation was launched on Sunday night after angry farmers broke through the perimeter of the Shah Amanat Enterprise warehouse at Dholdanga Bazar to claim the fertilizer. Following the incident, the local administration formed a five-member committee to determine the underlying causes of the disturbance.

Assistant Commissioner for Land Aminul Haque Tarek, who chaired the committee, confirmed that the report was submitted to Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Amrita Debnath on Monday evening. The committee reached its conclusions after visiting the site and interviewing the dealer, the farmers involved, and local witnesses. The findings have since been forwarded to higher authorities for further action.

In response to the report’s findings, the local administration has issued a show-cause notice to Messrs. Shah Amanat Enterprise. UNO Amrita Debnath stated that the dealer must explain the noted irregularities and the failure to serve the agricultural community as required.

Separately, Taifur Rahman, the proprietor of Messrs. Shah Amanat Enterprise, has filed a general diary (GD) with the Bhurungamari police station regarding the destruction of the warehouse property and the removal of the stock. Officer-in-Charge Azim Uddin confirmed receipt of the complaint and stated that the police have initiated an investigation to determine the appropriate legal course of action.
