Autorickshaw driver arrested for alleged rape of woman in Lakshmipur Sadar

Police in Lakshmipur Sadar Upazila have arrested a 35-year-old autorickshaw driver on charges of raping a housewife. The suspect, identified as Taj Uddin, is the son of Imam Uddin Dewan from the same upazila.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. According to police reports and the victim’s account, the housewife had left her home earlier that morning following a domestic dispute with her mother. She was traveling back to her in-laws’ residence when she boarded the suspect’s autorickshaw in Lakshmipur Sadar.
The victim reported that she was the sole passenger in the vehicle at the time. She alleged that the driver diverted the route and committed the assault. Local residents intervened after hearing the victim’s cries for help, apprehended the driver, and alerted the police.
Following the incident, the victim’s mother filed a formal case at the Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station on Wednesday night. Acting on the complaint, authorities took the suspect into custody.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Lakshmipur Sadar Model Police Station, Md. Wahid Parvez, confirmed the arrest, stating that officers were dispatched to the scene immediately upon receiving the report. He added that the victim is scheduled for a medical examination today, following which further legal proceedings will be initiated.
