Two children drown in pond in Munshiganj Upazila

Two children drowned in a pond in the Kathalbari area of Srinagar Upazila, Munshiganj, on Sunday morning.

The victims have been identified as four-year-old Rain, son of Mohiuddin Molla, and five-year-old Ibrahim, son of Mohsin Molla. The two boys, who were cousins, were playing near a recently constructed pond approximately 200 feet from their home around 11:00 a.m. when the incident occurred.

Family members reported that the children went missing while playing near the pond’s concrete steps. After an hour-long search of the surrounding area, relatives discovered the boys in the water. Local residents assisted in recovering the children, who were then rushed to the Srinagar Upazila Health Complex.

Kant Das, a physician at the emergency department of the health complex, stated that the children were brought to the facility at approximately 12:30 p.m. Medical staff pronounced them dead upon arrival, confirming that they had succumbed to the drowning before reaching the hospital.
