Unified Shariah-Based Islamic Bank Holds Tenth Board Meeting to Review Operations and Strategy

The board of directors of the state-owned Sharia-based Consolidated Islami Bank held its tenth meeting recently at the EXIM Bank Tower to discuss the entity’s strategic trajectory following the merger of five financial institutions. Kazi Shairul Hasan, Chairman of Consolidated Islami Bank, presided over the meeting, according to an official statement issued by the bank.

The session was attended by several high-ranking officials and board members, including Hafiz Ahmed Chowdhury, Secretary of the Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs Division under the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs; Mohammad Rashedul Amin, Joint Secretary of the Finance Division at the Ministry of Finance; and Sheikh Farid, Joint Secretary of the Financial Institutions Division at the Ministry of Finance.

Other board members present included Md. Khan Subayel Bin Rafiq, Asma Akter, K.M. Zakaria, and Mohammad Ahsan Habib Chowdhury. The bank’s Managing Director, Abedur Rahman Sikdar, also participated in the proceedings, alongside the administrators of the merged entities, including Mohammad Abul Hashem of Union Bank and Md. Moksuduzzaman of Global Islami Bank. Md. Monirul Islam, the acting company secretary, was also in attendance.

During the meeting, the board conducted a comprehensive review of the bank’s current financial status and deliberated on future operational initiatives. In addition to these strategic discussions, the board evaluated and approved several investment proposals aimed at strengthening the bank’s market position.
