Assistant Judge killed in road accident in Jamalpur

A 27-year-old assistant judge was killed early Monday morning when his private car collided with a stationary truck loaded with steel rods in the Jamalpur Sadar Upazila of Jamalpur district. The accident occurred on the Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway near the Lahirikanda Bazar area.
The deceased has been identified as AKM Samiul Haque, an assistant judge at the Jamalpur District and Sessions Court. He was the son of AKM Fazlul Haque, a former secretary and resident of the Satpai area in Netrokona Sadar Upazila. The driver of the private car, 46-year-old Md. Idris Ali, son of Danesh Hawladar of Dhaka’s Dhanmondi area, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
According to police and local accounts, Judge Haque was traveling from his residence in the Lalmatia area of Dhaka to Jamalpur during the late hours of Sunday night. Upon reaching the Lahirikanda area at dawn, the vehicle struck the rear of the truck, which had been parked along the roadside.
Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Nazmus Sakib stated that the truck had been disabled and was stationary on the side of the road. Upon impact, the steel rods protruding from the truck penetrated the interior of the car, causing fatal injuries to the judge, who died at the scene.
During questioning, the injured driver, Idris Ali, told authorities that he failed to notice the parked truck in time to maintain control of the vehicle. Following the incident, the driver was rescued and transported to Jamalpur General Hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police have released the body of the deceased to his family without a post-mortem examination, following a formal request submitted by his relatives.
