Two children drown in Narsingdi roadside ditch

Two children drowned in a roadside ditch in Narsingdi’s Monohardi upazila on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in Noadia village, located within the Ekduaria union.
The victims were identified as seven-year-old Tawhid and six-year-old Nabil, who were cousins. Nabil was the son of Md. Bazlur Rahman from Noadia village in Monohardi, while Tawhid was the son of Md. Mahabubur Rahman from Boilab village in the neighboring Shibpur upazila. Both children were students at a local madrasa.
According to family members and local residents, the two boys were out walking near a road in the Noadia area when the accident occurred. It is believed that one child fell into the roadside ditch, and the other drowned while attempting to pull him out. Passersby spotted one child floating in the water and initiated a rescue effort, discovering the second child still holding onto the first.
The boys were rushed to the Shibpur Upazila Health Complex, where attending physicians declared them dead upon arrival.
Monohardi Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jahangir Badsha confirmed that the bodies have been handed over to the families without autopsy, following formal requests from the children’s relatives.
