Police Launch Manhunt Following Alleged Rape of Seven-Year-Old Girl in Bandarban

A formal complaint has been filed in Ruma, Bandarban, following allegations that a seven-year-old girl was sexually assaulted. The victim’s father registered the case at the Ruma Police Station on Friday night, naming 40-year-old Shainumang Marma as the suspect.

The child, a first-grade student, reportedly visited a neighbor’s house after school hours. According to family members, it was during these visits that the suspect repeatedly assaulted the girl.

The victim’s mother noted that the child had become uncharacteristically withdrawn and lost her usual liveliness. After the girl eventually disclosed the abuse to her grandmother, the family initiated legal proceedings against Shainumang Marma.

Zinia Chakma, the Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) for Bandarban, confirmed that the suspect remains at large. Police have launched an operation to apprehend the accused. Meanwhile, the child has been sent to a hospital for a medical examination.
