Three Minors Arrested Following Gang Rape of Schoolgirl in Bhola

Authorities in the Borhanuddin sub-district of Bhola have arrested three teenagers following the alleged gang rape of a fifth-grade student, a crime that came to light after footage of the assault surfaced on social media. The incident, which reportedly occurred on July 26, remained hidden for weeks as the victim was subjected to threats from the perpetrators, preventing her from disclosing the ordeal to her family.
The gravity of the situation was revealed on Tuesday when a video recording of the assault began circulating online. Following the discovery, the victim’s brother filed a formal complaint at the Borhanuddin Police Station, charging five individuals under the Prevention of Cruelty to Women and Children Act. The victim’s family stated that they had no knowledge of the crime until the video went public, noting that the perpetrators had used intimidation to keep the girl silent.
In response to the filing, law enforcement conducted a series of operations across the sub-district, successfully apprehending three suspects. On Wednesday, a local court ordered the trio to be held in a juvenile detention facility. According to court police inspector Sheikh Md. Nasir Uddin, the suspects were initially detained at the Bhola district jail and are currently being transferred to the Jashore Juvenile Correction Center.
