Measles vaccination dates announced in four cities

Amid the alarming outbreak of measles, the range of special vaccination programs has been extended from Sunday (April 12). Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination program is starting in two cities of Dhaka, Mymensingh City and Barisal City Corporation area. Later, this program will start all over the country from April 20.

Expanded Immunization Program (EPI) Deputy Director Dr. Mohammad Shahriar Sajjad confirmed this. He said that the target of vaccinating 12 lakh 19 thousand 957 children aged 6 months to 5 years has been set in four cities.

According to the information of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, a special vaccination program has started in the country from April 5 to prevent measles. From that day MR vaccination was started in 30 upazilas of 18 districts. In the recent outbreak, the areas where the infection is relatively high, these activities are being carried out with priority in those areas.

Under this program all children aged 6 months to 59 months will get MR vaccination. Those concerned said that even if they have been vaccinated earlier, they can be vaccinated again under the ongoing campaign.

It has been informed that the vaccination program will be conducted at the designated centers every day except weekends from 9 am to 5 pm.
