Death Toll Reaches Four Following Fatal Bus-Autorickshaw Collision in Netrokona

The death toll from a collision between a passenger bus and an autorickshaw in Netrokona has risen to four after the vehicle’s driver succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Forty-five-year-old Rohan Mia passed away Sunday evening at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, following the fatal crash that occurred earlier that morning on the Netrokona-Mymensingh highway.
The accident took place at approximately 11:00 a.m. in the Chalisha area when a Mahua Paribahan bus traveling toward Netrokona collided with an autorickshaw headed for Shamganj. The impact left eight people critically injured. Noorjahan Begum, a 45-year-old resident of Amli Keshobpur village, was pronounced dead at the scene by responders.

Emergency services transported the remaining victims to the 250-bed Netrokona District Hospital, where Noorjahan Begum’s two daughters, Smriti Akter and Sumaiya Akter, were declared dead upon arrival. Three other injured individuals, including the driver, were subsequently transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for advanced care, where Rohan Mia later died.
District police spokesperson and Additional Superintendent of Police Hafizul Islam confirmed that two survivors remain hospitalized with serious injuries. Law enforcement officials have launched a search operation to apprehend the bus driver, and preparations are underway to file a formal case regarding the incident.
