The earthquake was felt in various places including the capital, the origin is in the country

Earthquake was felt in different parts of the country including the capital today on Tuesday. This earthquake happened around 12:30 today. Its origin is Bhaluka in Mymensingh, according to Meteorological Department sources.

Rubaiyat Kabir, Acting Director of Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center of Meteorological Department, told Prothom Alo that the earthquake was felt at 11:41 PM today. Its magnitude was 3.4 on the Richter scale. It is a low magnitude earthquake.  It’s nothing to worry about.

Although today’s earthquake was small, many people in the capital felt it.

Experts are of the opinion that Bangladesh is at risk of earthquake.  Bangladesh is at the intersection of three earthquake-prone plates. Therefore, the experts think that the earthquake that will happen occasionally in this country is normal. However, it is a matter of concern that recently there has been an increase in the occurrence of earthquakes in the country. Earthquakes have increased especially in the south-western part of the country, which is known as a region of low earthquake risk.
