Brothers and sisters died while picking up bottles floating in pond water

In Fulbari upazila of Dinajpur two children died after drowning in pond water. The incident took place in Khairbari Kutipara village of the upazila at seven o’clock today on Wednesday. Two children are brothers and sisters. The death of two children of the same family has cast a shadow of mourning in the area.
The two children who died are Sabia Jannat (6) and Md. Siam (4). Their father Shaheen Alam is a grocer by profession. He has a grocery store next to his house.

The child’s mother Kaya Begum and relatives said that there is a playground next to their house. There is a pond almost adjacent to the field. Kaya Begum was preparing breakfast at home. Baba Shaheen Alam had just opened the shop. At that time Jannat, Siam and another child were playing in the field.
Once Siam saw a bottle floating in the water of the pond and went to pick it up. At this time, he began to drown in more water. Sister Sabia Jannat fell into the water of the pond after seeing her brother’s condition. He goes down too. Later, another child at the edge of the pond ran home and told the news. Later, others including their parents took the two children from the pond and brought them to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

In this regard, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ahmed Hasan said, “I went to the spot after knowing about the matter. Some children were playing in the field. The pond is next to the field. Maybe he somehow got into the pond and drowned. This is very shocking. An attempt has been made to stand by the family.
