Scarlett Johansson Joins The Batman 2 Cast

“Black Widow” star Scarlett Johansson is officially entering the DC Universe, confirmed to join the cast of director Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel, “The Batman: Part II.” Principal photography for the film is slated to commence this year, Warner Bros. has confirmed.
The 41-year-old actress, renowned for her roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will share the screen with Robert Pattinson, who reprises his role as Bruce Wayne, also known as Batman, in the follow-up to the 2022 blockbuster. Director Matt Reeves, 60, announced Johansson’s involvement in a characteristically mysterious fashion.

On Thursday, May 14, Reeves bypassed a traditional press release, instead sharing a GIF from Johansson’s prior work on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, igniting immediate speculation among fans about her role. Many “Batman” enthusiasts are theorizing that Johansson could portray Gilda Dent, the wife of Gotham City’s District Attorney.
Johansson is not the sole new addition to the ensemble. Actor Sebastian Stan, 43, also known for his previous work in superhero franchises, is cast as Harvey Dent, the prominent character who eventually becomes the villainous Two-Face. Furthermore, veteran actor Charles Dance, 79, is rumored to join the film as Christopher Dent, Harvey Dent’s father.

The sequel will see the return of 40-year-old Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader. He will be joined by Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell, whose acclaimed performance as The Penguin will also be featured.
“The Batman: Part II,” with a screenplay co-written by Matt Reeves and Mattson Tomlin, is set to begin shooting this year, according to Warner Bros.
