Taki’s killers are living royal lives abroad: Rafiur Rabbi

Syed Anwar Hossain, a prominent educationist of the country has commented that the justice system of the country has been called into question due to the non-trial of the murder of talented student Tanveer Muhammad Takki. He said, “Even in 13 years, the non-trial of Tukki’s murder has put our judicial system in jeopardy. This trial is necessary not only for the family of the accused, but also for the immunity of the society.
Syed Anwar Hossain said this at the candle lighting program organized on the occasion of the murder of talented student Tanveer Muhammad Takki and 158 months of lawlessness in the premises of Narayanganj College Shaheed Minar on Friday evening. Narayanganj Cultural Alliance has been consistently holding candlelight programs on the 8th of every month to demand justice for the killers since the murder of Tukki. Syed Anwar Hossain said, “Two governments have already left. We are also demanding speedy justice for the murder of Tukki from the current government.

Tukki’s father, cultural personality Rafiur Rabbi, also spoke at the event under the chairmanship of the organization’s president Moni Supanthor and moderated by general secretary Dina Tazreen. Rafiur Rabbi said that the desire of twenty-four students who took to the streets against discrimination was not realized. Discrimination among people has increased. Judiciary is not yet independent. The dream of change and reform that has excited people cannot be allowed to fail.
Tukki’s father also said that Tukki’s killers are living a royal life abroad. Even if there is no ban like during Sheikh Hasina’s regime, the uncertainty of getting justice in Tukki murder still remains.

District President of Revolutionary Workers Party Mahmud Hossain, former president of Narayanganj Cultural Association Bhabani Shankar Roy, former president Ziaul Islam, former president Pradeep Ghosh, general secretary Dhiman Saha, district president of Workers Party Hafizur Rahman and others were also present in the event.
It is to be noted that on March 6, 2013, Tanveer Muhammad Takki went missing after leaving his house on Shaista Khan Road in the city. Two days later, on March 8, the police recovered the body of Takki from the Kumudini canal of Shitalakshya river. On November 12 of that year, Ajmeri Osman’s associate Sultan Shaukat (Bhramar) and on November 24, 2024, Kajal Howladar said in a confessional statement under section 164 in the court that Tukki was killed after being kidnapped under the leadership of Ajmeri Osman.
On March 5, 2014, the investigative agency RAB told a press conference that 11 people killed Tukki in their torture cell on the instructions of the Osman family of Narayanganj. Soon they will submit the charge sheet to the court. But that charge sheet has not been submitted till date.
