Jagannath University’s 8th Indoor Games carrom tournament finals have been accused of nepotism against Jaksur sports editor Georges Anwar Naeem. In this incident, player Sadia Sultana Nelli slapped sports editor Georgis.

This incident took place after the prize distribution ceremony of the university’s eighth indoor games competition 2026 on Wednesday afternoon.

Eyewitnesses said that during the carrom finals of the 8th Indoor Games, the violation of rules was alleged. There was an argument between the player Sadia and the sports editor Georgis. At one point, Sadia slapped the sports editor after the prize distribution ceremony amid tension.

When asked, Sadia Sultana, a student of the 2021-22 academic year of Law and Land Administration Department, said that according to the rules of duel games, two players of the same department should be in a team. But two players in the opposing team were not from the same category, which is illegal. After knowing the matter, they informed the responsible officials.

Some eyewitness students said that Georges was arguing with Sadia. At one point, one threatened the other. Prizes were distributed later. After that, Sadia slapped Georges.

After the incident, Sadia gave a warning to the sports editor in her Facebook post. He wrote, ‘Mr Georges Anwar Naim (Sports Editor, Jaksu) will henceforth get more slaps for nepotism in the game. Now I have given only one. I have all the evidence of your nepotism. But already the girls of your student organization are writing that I am raising hands on you by showing the power of sir. Where the injustice is yours, unfairly going outside the rules (rules) and trying to champion two teams together, there is no power. He performed his duties properly as sports editor. Don’t even try to champion someone illegally.’

When asked, Georges Anwar told Prothom Alo, “According to the rules of Carrom duel games, two players of the same category have to be in a team. But the two players in the opposing team were not from the same division, but they came to play till the final match. Let’s talk to the sports committee about why they were not excluded earlier. Sadia Sultana also spoke with Nellie’s team about how the assessment will be done now. He was very agitated and was threatening me.
