Three leaders of BNP-Chhatra Dal expelled, 2 arrested in case of vandalism of Jamaat MP’s car in Netrokona

Three leaders of BNP and Chhatra Dal have been expelled in connection with Jamaat-e-Islami Member of Parliament (MP) Machum Mustafa being blocked and car vandalized in Netrokona-5 (Purbadhala) constituency. The expulsion order was given to them in a separate notice yesterday Sunday night.
Those leaders are Upazila BNP joint convener Ishtiaq Ahmed, Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Saju Ahmed and former joint convener Solaiman Kabir.
Meanwhile, the District Detective Police (DB) conducted a raid last night and arrested the two accused in the case, Saju Ahmed and Solaiman Kabir. Confirming the matter, Netrakona District DB Inspector (West) Devanshu Kumar said that the arrested Saju Ahmed and Solaiman Kabir have been handed over to the court on Monday afternoon.
According to police sources, MP Machum Mostafa went to Atkapara Giripatha filling station near Shyamganj-Birishiri road in Upazila Sadar last Friday evening to take fuel. Later leave the car there and go to the filling station namazkhana for Maghrib prayers. After some time, 25 to 30 people on 15 motorcycles went to the pump and wanted to take fuel for their motorcycles and created a ruckus. At one stage, they also vandalized Machum Mustafa’s car.
At that time, when Machum Mustafa wanted to leave the prayer hall, the angry youths chased him and blocked him. Later, Machum Mustafa was rescued with the help of police and upazila BNP senior joint convener Babul Alam Talukdar. In this incident, the personal assistant of the member of parliament, Al Amin, mentioned the names of 63 people and accused another 60 unknown people in the police station.
In that case, Abu Taher Talukdar, the candidate of Dhaner Shisher, the nearest rival of Machum Mustafa in the 13th National Parliament election and convener of BNP of Purbadhala Upazila, was the main accused. Police arrested 12 accused so far.
Meanwhile, upazila BNP joint convener Ishtiaq Ahmed has been expelled from all positions, including the party’s primary position, on allegations of involvement in terrorism, mayhem and anti-party discipline activities. This information was confirmed in the notification signed by Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Senior Joint Secretary General of BNP last night.
Apart from this, a separate notice signed by Central Chhatra Dal office secretary Jahangir Alam informed that based on the specific complaint of violation of organizational discipline, Upazila Chhatra Dal member secretary Saju Ahmed and former joint convener Solaiman Kabir were expelled from all positions of the party including primary membership. Netrakona District Chhatra Dal President Anik Mahmud Chowdhury confirmed this information at noon today.
