Bangladesh receives positive news on Mustafizur Rahman ahead of crucial match

**Bangladesh Boosted by Mustafizur Rahman’s Potential Return Against New Zealand**
Dhaka, Bangladesh – Bangladesh has received a significant boost ahead of their crucial second One-Day International against New Zealand, with fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman reportedly nearing full fitness. Rahman was a last-minute withdrawal from the opening match due to a knee issue, casting doubt over his participation in the remainder of the three-match series.
However, teammate Shoriful Islam allayed those concerns during a press conference on Friday, stating, “Yes, he (Mustafizur) is reasonably well, Alhamdulillah.” Rahman’s absence from the first ODI was a blow to Bangladesh’s bowling attack. He had initially been included in the starting XI, but discomfort felt in his right knee during warm-ups prompted team management, including coach Phil Simmons, to err on the side of caution and rest him.
With the first ODI already lost to New Zealand, Bangladesh faces a must-win scenario in the second match to keep the series alive. Islam confirmed that the entire 15-man squad is prepared to play, emphasizing that selection decisions rest with the coaching staff. “We, the 15 in the squad, are always ready to play,” he said. “Now, whatever team the coach or they decide will play. That is not in my hands.”
New Zealand currently leads the series 1-0 after their victory in the opening encounter. The second ODI is scheduled for Saturday, April 20, at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, where Bangladesh will aim to level the series.
