Massive Crackdown on Adolescent Gangs Leads to 370 Detentions Across Chandpur
Simultaneous raids across eight upazilas of Chandpur lead to mass detentions as law enforcement cracks down on rising juvenile delinquency and local criminal syndicates
Law enforcement agencies in Chandpur have detained 370 individuals during a coordinated, district-wide crackdown targeting juvenile delinquency and adolescent gangs across eight upazilas. The massive operation, executed by local police stations and the Detective Branch (DB), commenced on Sunday evening and continued until 10:00 PM, marking a significant intensification of local security measures. Additional Superintendent of Police (Administration) Nadira Nur officially confirmed the details of the raid late Sunday night.
The synchronized sweep was conducted under the direct directive of Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General Abdul Quddus Chowdhury and spearheaded by Chandpur Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman. According to operational data, the detentions spanned across the entire district, yielding 35 suspects in Chandpur Sadar, 48 in Haimchar, 41 in Faridganj, 37 in Hajiganj, 62 in Kachua, 45 in Shahrasti, 52 in Matlab Uttar, and 36 in Matlab Dakshin. An additional 14 individuals were rounded up by detective units from various separate locations during the coordinated maneuvers.
Following thorough interrogations and legal processing, authorities released 355 of the detained youths into the custody of their respective guardians after securing formal written bonds and undertaking pledges of good behavior. Law enforcement officials confirmed that background verifications and information checks are currently underway for the remaining 15 detained individuals to determine subsequent legal steps.
Reiterating the administration's zero-tolerance stance toward youth-related violence and delinquency, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mizanur Rahman stated that such proactive security operations and preventive initiatives by the district police will remain ongoing to curb rising criminal tendencies among adolescents.
