A 26-year-old Bangladeshi expatriate worker was killed in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province when a missile or drone launched by Yemen's Houthi armed group struck an oil facility operated by state-owned company Aramco in the Al-Khurais area. The victim, Md Sojib Hossain, hailed from Brahmanpara Upazila in Cumilla district.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the fatality in a press release issued on Monday, strongly condemning the attack and expressing profound condolences to the bereaved family of the slain worker.
Khurais. Following the incident, the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh promptly established contact with Sojib's family members and his local employer to extend necessary assistance. The embassy is currently coordinating with Saudi authorities to complete the formal procedures required to repatriate his remains to Bangladesh.
Brahmanpara Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Munni Islam stated on Monday evening that local administration officials had reached out to the victim's family. She noted that Sojib, alongside his father and brother, had been residing in Saudi Arabia, and that his relatives currently based in the kingdom would spearhead the initiative to bring his body back home.
