Zero tolerance against corruption and no compromise on chain of command: Home Minister

Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said that there is no place for corruption in the police force. He said that the government’s zero tolerance policy against corruption will be strictly maintained. At the same time, there will be no compromise in maintaining the chain of command and discipline of the forces.
The Home Minister said this while addressing the special guest at the ‘Prime Minister’s Directional Address to Senior Police Officers’ organized on the occasion of Police Week-2026 at the Shapla Hall of the Prime Minister’s Office in Tejgaon of the capital on Monday morning.

The Home Minister said that the nature and scale of crime has changed in this age of information technology. A specialized ‘Cyber Police Unit’ will be formed to combat cyber crime, rumors and misinformation on social media.

In order to increase the professionalism of the police, it has been decided to set up two modern police training academies in Jungle Salimpur, Chittagong, said Salahuddin Ahmad, one of which will be used for the elite force and the other for the general force. He also said that a separate law will be made to ensure transparency and accountability in the activities of the elite force.
The Home Minister said that necessary steps will be taken to increase and modernize the capacity of central and divisional police hospitals. Besides, a full police sports complex will be constructed subject to availability of land.
Ordering to increase the use of bodyworn cameras to bring transparency in operational activities, the minister said the police are being trained to follow the policy of minimum use of force as per UN standards. Crime must be tactful, but human rights must not be violated under any circumstances.
The Home Minister ordered to provide all kinds of services including police clearance certificate and online GD at the earliest. At the same time, he emphasized on improving the image of the country’s tourism sector by increasing the capacity of the tourist police.
