Throwing away the constitution is now a matter of time: Asif Mahmood

National Citizen Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan said, ‘Those who are beneficiaries of the old settlement, may try to pull the youth. The next generation has no respect for the Constitution. When we have no respect for the constitution, it is nothing more than a paper book. Throwing away the constitution is now a matter of time. Gen-G and Gen-Alpha are coming, they’re going to throw it away and a new state-of-government will emerge.’
This was said by Asif Mahmud in his speech as the chief guest at the seminar titled ‘Youth Budget Ideas and Implementation of Referendum’ at Tarek Smriti Auditorium of Town Hall, Mymensingh Nagar today, Thursday afternoon. The seminar was organized by Jatiya Chhatra Shakti Mymensingh District Branch.
Asif Mahmud pointed out that it is not yet clear how such a large budget will be implemented without a major reform of the financial structure, saying that it is not possible to achieve the budget targets with the current tax administrative capacity. The first budget of a post-election government was expected by the public to reflect state reforms, referendums and structural changes. But so far that plan is not visible. Among the fundamental crises of the current economy, high inflation, stagnant employment, investment crisis and fiscal deficit are not visible in the budget. Rather, the government talks more about programs like family card, farmer’s card and digging of canals.
Trinamool leaders-activists of NCP’s organization Chhatra Shakti from different upazilas participated in the seminar. At this time, they expressed their views on various issues including budget increase in education sector, separate budget for youth, employment and agriculture sector. Chhatra Shakti’s Mymensingh district branch convener Ali Hossain presided over the seminar and National Chhatra Shakti president Zahid Ahsan, NCP joint convener Jabed Rasin, joint member secretary Lutfar Rahman and others were also present in the seminar.
