RAB has arrested five people for allegedly collecting private pictures and videos of school, college and university students in the country and selling them commercially. They were arrested in various areas of Bhola district on Sunday. The arrested persons are Merazur Rahman, Billal Hossain, Ravi Alam, Al Amin and Hasib.
MZM Intekhab Chowdhury, director of RAB’s law and media wing, gave this information in a press conference at Caravan Bazaar in the capital on Monday. He said the gang mainly operated using the Telegram platform. They used to provide sensitive pictures and videos for money through various private channels. To collect these pictures and videos, they used to hack Facebook or personal devices, collect content from ex-lovers after break-ups and leak secret pictures.
According to RAB, about one and a half lakh nude and touching pictures and videos and information of about 350 groups and channels were found from the cell phone used by the gang.
Apart from this, in a separate operation, RAB arrested seven people along with looted goods in connection with the stabbing and robbery of a Chinese citizen in a Chinese project in the Rajendrapur underpass area of South Keraniganj, Dhaka on April 14.
