Dawn has dawned, silence all around. A house in Tergharia village on the border of Meherpur was suddenly shaken by a loud noise. A speeding private car broke through the bedroom wall and entered. The family members ran in panic after waking up.

This incident took place in Meherpur Sadar upazila at around five o’clock in the morning on Wednesday. The owner of the house, Arshad Ali, was seriously injured.

Arshad Ali’s house is next to the road of Tergharia village. According to local sources, on the way back with drugs from the border area, a speeding private car lost control and crashed into the brick wall of his house. He was injured by hitting the wall.

The driver tried to escape when the microbus overturned after the impact. Hearing the noise, local people rushed to the spot. They recovered about one and a half kg of ganja from inside the car. At this time the driver Anik Hossain (Biplob) was arrested. The agitated mob beat him up and handed him over to the police.

Confirming the truth of the incident, Ramdaspur Police Camp Sub-Inspector Anup Kumar Das said that the accident took place when they lost control while fleeing the border area with drugs. One and a half kg of ganja, microbus and the driver were arrested from the spot. A case under Narcotics Control Act is being prepared against him. Police are working to identify others involved in this incident.
