The husband left the body of the housewife in the hospital in Shariatpur and ran away

A housewife named Shimu Akhter (35) died mysteriously in Shariatpur’s Naria. Allegations have been made against her husband and in-laws of leaving the dead body of the woman in the emergency department of Naria Upazila Health Complex.
On Thursday night, the police recovered the body of the housewife and sent it to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. Shimu Akter is the wife of Quddus Khan of Baraipara area of Nadia Municipality. His father’s house is in Dhaka.
According to the sources of Naria Police Station, Shimu Akhtar was brought unconscious to Upazila Health Complex yesterday evening by husband Quddus Khan and his family members. Later, the doctor on duty at the hospital declared him dead after the examination. After the doctor confirmed Shimu’s death, her husband Quddus Khan and in-laws left the body in the emergency department of the hospital and fled. Later the hospital authorities reported the matter to the police. At around nine o’clock in the night, the police of Nadia Police Station went to the Upazila Health Complex. The body of the housewife was recovered at around 9:30 pm and sent to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Naria Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Shahjalal told Prothom Alo, ‘On Thursday evening, some people brought a dead woman to the emergency department of the hospital. When the doctor on duty told the people that the patient they had brought had died before reaching the hospital. Those people then left the body in the emergency department and left the hospital. Then we reported the matter to the police. There is a scar on the dead woman’s neck.
Officer-in-charge of Naria police station Bahar Mia told Prothom Alo, “We have sent the police to the hospital after getting the information. Since the incident, the woman’s husband and in-laws are absconding. Their house is also locked. We are trying to contact the girl’s family. Apart from this, the body was recovered from the hospital and sent to the morgue for autopsy. The actual cause of death can be confirmed once the post-mortem report is available. Initially, the doctor said that there are scars on the neck of the deceased woman.
