The Chhatra Shakti leader has been accused of ‘harassing’ the couple by entering the residential hotel

Charges have been filed against upazila Chhatra Shakti convener Asaduzzaman Asad and two persons for harassing two tourists including a woman, creating a mob and defaming the president of the business association by attacking a residential hotel in Chittagong’s Sitakunda municipal headquarters. Leaders of Sitakunda Municipal Business Shop Owners Association raised this complaint in a press conference at Sitakunda Press Club Auditorium on Saturday afternoon.
General Secretary of the Business Shop Owners Association at the press conference. Sajjad Hossain Rafiq said that on the afternoon of April 6, a group of rioters led by Asaduzzaman Asad attacked Hotel Simon Abasi in a planned manner. At that time they entered the hotel and harassed a couple staying in room number 103. They also beat up the disabled hotel manager. After getting the news, the leaders of the business association went to the residential hotel and protested the incident. Since then, members of the gang have been posting defamatory posts on social media including Facebook against the association’s president Nashir Uddin Bhuiyan.
Md. Sajjad Hossain said that the Assad forces have been accused of beating journalists in Sitakunda and extortion in different places.
Speakers in the press conference said that tourists are being robbed after getting off the train or bus late at night in Sitakunda. Due to the extreme deterioration of law and order, Sitakunda is becoming devoid of tourists day by day. As a result, apart from hotel owners, small shops, vehicles and tourism-related persons are affected.
When asked, Asaduzzaman Asad said that he is currently the president of the anti-rape stage without the convener of Sitakunda Upazila Committee of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti. Earlier he was with the anti-discrimination movement. Recently they received reports of anti-social activities in hotels. The matter has been reported to the police station several times. The miscreants left the hotel before the police arrived. On April 6, they informed the police station about the whereabouts of a man and a woman who had come to do anti-social activities in the hotel. They were told about surveillance in the hotel by the police. That’s why they tried to catch those miscreants staying in the hotel.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Sitakunda Police Station. Mohinul Islam told Prothom Alo that the owner of the hotel filed a complaint regarding the attack on the residential hotel. They are investigating the matter. If anyone is found guilty in the investigation, legal action will be taken against him. Apart from this, they will seriously investigate the matter of robbing tourists late at night. He said that he advised to file a case in court regarding the defamation of the president of the business association.
