Fiction writer and Prothom Alo managing editor Anisul Haque said, 'It is very good to want to be a writer, everyone should be a writer - there is no such thing, but everyone should read good writing. To be a good writer, you must first be a good reader.
Anisul Haque said this while attending the 'Panchgarh Sahitya Utsav 2026' at the auditorium of Panchagarh District Art Academy on Saturday afternoon. He said this in a discussion on 'What to write, how to write' at the festival organized by Prothom Alo Bandhu Sabha in Panchagarh.
Addressing the young writers who participated in the festival, Anisul Haque said, "Many of us read different kinds of books, sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry and sometimes we get excited. But the writer reads again and thinks why did I smile after reading that line, why did I cry after reading this line, why am I angry after reading this line. Learn this rule.
The literary festival started with the performance of the national anthem by the members of the Panchagarh Bandhu Sabha at around 11 am. Rajiur Rahman, Panchagarh representative of Prothom Alo gave a welcome speech.
Noorjahan Hotel and Restaurant, a business organization of Panchagarh, provided full support in organizing the literary festival.
Panchagarh Bandhu Sabha organizes this literature festival to increase interest in reading, writing and literature among the young generation. A total of 212 people had registered online for the literary festival in three age-wise categories. Registrants submit poems and short stories.
Among them, certificates, flowers, books and saplings were presented to six winners in three categories through the panel of judges. Category A (12 to 15 years old) Fahmida Haque won in poetry writing, Punsch Prakhar Roy won in story and essay writing. In category B (16 to 20 years old) ML Rahman won in poetry writing, Sathi Roy won in story and essay writing.
In category C (21 years and above), Lamiya Akhtar won in poetry writing, Anarul Islam won in story and essay writing. Sara Mahjabin Sadiq, a college student with special needs, received the award as an indomitable writer at the festival.
Reshma Rhea, general secretary of Panchagarh Bandhu Sabha, gave the closing speech and vote of thanks for the function conducted by Raihan Sharif, executive member of Panchagarh Bandhu Sabha.
Certificates, flowers and gifts are given to all who participated in the literature festival through the registration process.
