Record highest temperature of the year in Rajshahi, heat wave in 24 districts

The highest temperature in the country this year was recorded today on Wednesday in the northern district of Rajshahi. Sources of Meteorological Department said that heat wave is flowing in 24 districts of the country including Rajshahi and Khulna divisions today around 5:30 pm. Sources of the Directorate say that there may be heat wave tomorrow. Today, heat wave is also flowing in the capital.

Meteorologist of the Department of Meteorology. Omar Farooq told Prothom Alo that the highest temperature recorded in the country today was 50 degrees Celsius. This is the highest temperature of this year.

Omar Farooq said that heat waves are also flowing in Khulna and Rajshahi divisions today. He said, apart from this, heat wave is blowing in eight other districts. Those districts are Dhaka 36.3 degrees Celsius, Tangail and Madaripur 36, Dinajpur 36.5 degrees Celsius, Rangamati 36.8 degrees Celsius and Bandarban 36.7 degrees Celsius.

The number of districts in Rajshahi and Khulna division is 18. Adding 6 districts to this, heat wave is flowing in 24 districts today.

When the temperature reaches 36 degrees Celsius in an area, it is considered to be a heat wave. Accordingly, heat wave is flowing in 9 more districts today except Rajshahi. The districts are 37 degrees Celsius in Jessore and Sirajganj, 36.6 degrees Celsius in Faridpur, 36.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga, Kushtia and Pabna, 36.3 degrees Celsius in Rangamati, 36.2 degrees Celsius in Dhaka and 36 degrees Celsius in Khulna.

Meteorologist Md. Omar Farooq said, the heat wave may increase the next day even if it does not increase tomorrow Thursday.
