Railway line to Durgapur to be extended as promised by government: Deputy Speaker

The Deputy Speaker of Jatiya Sangsad and Member of Parliament for Netrokona-1 (Kalmakanda-Durgapur) Constituency Kaiser Kamal said that the railway line will be extended from Jaria Station in Purbadhala Upazila of Netrokona to Durgapur.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at the meeting with Sudhijan to establish the railway line from Jaria Jhanjail Railway Station to Durgapur Upazila at Durgapur Auditorium on Wednesday afternoon.
Kaiser Kamal said, ‘I said before the election, I will try to implement the railway from Jaria station in Purbadhala upazila to Durgapur. The election promise of our current government is to expand railway lines. Accordingly, the railway line will be extended up to Durgapur. Four of the five major bridges already sanctioned in Ekne have fallen in my parliamentary constituency Durgapur-Kalmakanda. For 108 years in this neglected Durgapur-Kalmakanda, we only see railway cars and railway lines, but cannot come by train. I am grateful to those who have come here today to implement this great work.
Deputy Commissioner Khandaker Mushfiqur Rahman presided over the meeting. The program was conducted by the former principal of Purbadhala Government Degree College. Shahid Khan
In the meeting, Minister of State for Railways Habibur Rashid said, ‘Railway expansion is not easy. We have to give it some time. Since we rushed, we have no lack of sincerity in implementing this demand. There will be 12 kilometers of railway. But there are many incidentals. A few bridges have to be made. So some time will be required.
Afzal Hossain, Director General of Bangladesh Railways said, “Durgapur’s natural beauty and natural greenery captivate us. Some rules and procedures have to be followed while implementing any government project. We will be undertaking a survey project very soon. Hopefully, it will be implemented during this government.
