Police seize alcohol from ambulance in Feni, two arrested

Police in Feni’s Parshuram arrested two men on Saturday after discovering 117 bottles of illicit liquor hidden inside a clinic’s ambulance. The vehicle was intercepted by law enforcement on the Samity Road of the regional highway acting on intelligence that narcotics were being smuggled to Dhaka.
The suspects have been identified as 51-year-old ambulance driver Jasim Uddin and his 21-year-old associate, Minhajur Rahman. Both are residents of the local area. According to authorities, the ambulance belonged to the Parshuram Clinic and bore the facility’s branding at the time of the seizure. The confiscated contraband is estimated to have a street value of approximately 243,000 taka.

Nabi Chowdhury, the owner of Parshuram Clinic, claimed that the driver had been misled regarding the contents of the shipment. He stated that the proprietor of a local pharmacy, Gita Medicine Shop, had requested the driver to transport several cartons, allegedly containing glassware, to Feni. Following the police intervention, the pharmacy involved in the request was found closed.
Parshuram Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ashraful Islam confirmed that a case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act against five individuals, including the two arrested suspects, the pharmacy owner, and two unidentified accomplices. The arrested men were produced before a court and subsequently remanded to jail. Police operations remain ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects involved in the smuggling operation.
